Stamp Duty is paid on property purchases.

Currently, the rates charged on the whole transaction for residential property transactions and lease premiums are:

Property Value

Up to £175,000 – nil
£175,001 – £250,000 – 1%
£250,001 – £500,000 – 3%
More than £500,000 – 4%
